Experiencing a delayed response, or a ghost image in my brain, has happened before, but never poured out onto the paper as clearly as it did last Monday night at The Grisly Pear Blues Jam.
I had just finished a sketch of Big Ed Sullivan that had not captured his features at all. I moved on…. there is never time to fuss during a jam. I grabbed another piece of paper and sketched David Bennett Cohen sitting beside me playing keyboard. My brain must have still been holding the image of Ed’s profile because the result was a cross between the two musicians, a bit odd. If Big Ed wore David’s glasses and sat down at the keyboard, he might look like the painting shown here.

I like how the red “shadow” correspond to his profile, so to speak.
It is interesting, you using Black Swan in English Roses for sketching. I noticed you used it for the Noodler’s Competition as well. I do not own the ink, but I really like the way you use it. Right now I am contemplating using other colours than black for my ink sketching and this is definitly a contender. The artwork is, as always, inspiring!

I adore the Black Swan in English Rose. Though I’m not a big fan of red ink, this is extremely versatile. You have inspired me to chose the Noodler’s Zhivago for my next bottle of ink. the variation in color that I see in your drawing for the Noodler’s contest is incredible.
