Watercolor, en plein air, early 1980’s (I think).

Rose Hips, Peaks Island, Maine

The past two weeks of post surgery recovery have given me fantastic opportunities to draw, draw and draw some more.  Yesterday afternoon I started to crave working in color again, working with positive and negative shapes, splashes of color and flowing lines.

This morning I did another free form, automatic ink drawing, completely different from anything else I’ve done, very geometric and controlled, following silly rules I invented for myself.  I can’t resist seeing if I can breathe life into it with spots of color.  Time to pull out the paints again.
