Nick has a son of his own now.

Watercolor portrait of Nick Van Zandt, 1980

Nick is my nephew.  I loved attending his soccer games and was happy that I was still thought of as his aunt when I was no longer married to his mom’s brother.  When I first met Nick he had just learned to walk!

The inspiration for the watercolor portraits I painted in the early 80’s was Charles Reid’s book, Portrait Painting In Watercolor, first published in 1973.  I still treasure the book and I am determined to capture, in watercolor, the expressions of musicians as they play.  Next week a new Blues Jam is starting up in Easton at the Larry Holmes Restaurant.  I will have my paints with me.
